We run regular meetings with expert colleagues to discuss the management of all new cases. The focus of this Multidisciplinary meeting is to review the pathology of the cancer with emphasis on the biological features of the cancer that may help to direct the anti cancer treatment. The purpose of the meeting will include a review of the available pathology specimens by an expert cancer pathologist. Selected pathology slides can then be sent to America for detailed study of the cancer proteins, DNA and RNA to identify possible treatment targets.
We are currently working with an American biotechnology company to obtain profile of the individual cancers to achieve this. This adds information to what we normally obtain from a standard pathology review and we are collecting information on the outcomes of such directed treatments in an ongoing audit.
